What lands on our side when you read a page
Nothing you have to give us. There is no account and no login; what reaches our host is the ordinary request data every web server receives — the address your request came from, your browser's user agent, which page you asked for and when — used to deliver the page and keep the site up. Nothing about your visit follows you to other websites.

Only cookies strictly necessary for the site to work. No advertising cookies and no cross-site tracking cookies are set.
Who you are dealing with
The publisher of Sewingmechanic is the controller of whatever personal data this site processes, and there is no parent company behind it. The site runs without accounts, logins or a comment system, which is why the list below is as short as it is. Requests about your data go through contact page.
If you hand us your address it is because you asked for something — a guide or the newsletter — and it is used for that and nothing else. We do not sell it or rent it. Every email carries an unsubscribe link that works immediately, and leaving takes one click, no reason required.
How is this site paid for?
Partly through affiliate links. When a link points to a retailer or a service and you buy something after clicking it, we may receive a commission — the price you pay is the same either way. We decide what to cover and what to recommend before anyone pays us anything.
Who else handles it
A handful of services process data on our behalf: the host that serves these pages, the processor that takes payments and the service that sends email. Some sit outside your country, under standard contractual protections. We keep what we hold only while it serves the purpose it was given for — an email address until you unsubscribe, order records for as long as tax law requires.
Your rights
You can ask what we hold about you, ask for it to be corrected, or ask us to delete it — write to us and we do it. If you are in the EU or the UK, that is the GDPR; if you are in California, the CCPA gives you the same practical rights, including the right not to have personal information sold. We do not sell it to anyone.
Children
This site is written for adults and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 16. If you believe a child has sent us something, tell us through contact page and we will delete it.
