About Sewing Mechanic

Sewing Mechanic is a small independent site about presser feet, bobbins, needles, timing and the parts that make a machine sew, built around one idea: do the reading once, properly, and write it down so nobody else has to.

How we research

Each guide starts as a pile of primary sources: vendor docs, pricing pages, manuals and user reports. What survives cross-checking gets published; the rest does not.

What you get here is the result of:

• Collecting the primary material first: official documentation, manuals, current pricing
• Comparing that against what owners report repeatedly, not against a single loud review
• Publishing only what survives the cross-check, and dropping the rest rather than hedging it

House rules

• We do not invent — no rating we did not calculate, no test we did not run, no quote nobody said. If it cannot be checked, it does not get published.
• Money is visible — affiliate links pay us a commission at no extra cost to you and are disclosed where they appear; the detail is on the disclosure page.
• Pages are maintained — when the facts move, the guide is rewritten rather than left to rot.
